LEAVE OF ABSENCE - Holidays

It is a matter for the Governors and Headteacher's discretion as to whether a holiday is granted. Parents have the right to request leave of absence for holidays, but applications must be made at least one month in advance, and the exceptional reason for the request should be explained in detail by the parent ('family holiday' is not sufficient, fuller details are required). You will then be informed in writing if the request has been accepted or refused. All unauthorised absences go into a child's record and will transfer with them to their next school.

If a child is absent, the school needs to be either telephoned on the first day of absence or to receive a letter on the child's return, giving the reason. Any appointment of a medical nature that is urgent and requires release from a lesson needs to be requested in writing.

Rates of Authorised and Unauthorised Absence - 2006/2007:

a) Total number of registered pupils of compulsory school age on roll for at least one session during the reporting period to 26th May 2007 ..... 46

b) The percentage of half days (sessions) missed through authorised absence ..... 3.4%

c) The percentage of half days (sessions) missed through unauthorised absence .....0%
